CocoRosie’s new album to be released in Europe (excl. Benelux & GSA) on [PIAS] Recordings

01/03/2010 - RECORDINGS

CocoRosie ‘s fourth album will hit stores May 3.

“Grey Oceans” is simply magical. As eclectic as ever, it’s both more intense and more accessible than previous albums, not least because of the more prominent role pianist Gael Rakotondrabe fulfills (obviously a kindred musical spirit) as well as producer (and creative partner) Nicolas Kalwill.

For the most part recorded in Buenos Aires, in cult vintage studio Panda, it also saw the sisters do some sessions in Paris, Berlin, New York, and Melbourne for what might just be their best effort yet. Based on improvisation and experimenting with old analog gear, it mostly sees Bianca and Sierra push the boundaries vocally. Standout tracks include first single “Lemonade”, “Hopscotch”, “The Moon Asked The Crow”, and “Undertaker” (with their mother's voice in the beginning and the end).

CocoRosie is also on tour throughout Europe in May/June this year (and beyond, surely)
